Queens Park Rangers are in danger of being fined up to £50 million if they win promotion back to the Premier League.

The club lost £65.4m in their last financial year, with the true cost of relegation from the top flight last season being revealed in the 2012-13 accounts.

Net debt also rose from £91.4m to a staggering £177.1m - with a £68m wage bill which exceeded that of last season's Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund - and QPR seem set for some form of punishment from the Football League due to the governing body's Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

The figures suggest they would be fined if they won promotion from the Championship this season and given a transfer embargo from January if they do not go up.

New FFP regulations were introduced last summer, making the maximum permitted loss £8m for sides in the Championship.
