Liverpool and Arsenal will play each other on the opening weekend of the season.
The new Premier League fixture list has thrown up a collection of top clashes to get the new season underway, with Manchester United facing newly-promoted Newcastle and Tottenham, ahead of their Champions League qualifying ties, meeting Manchester City at White Hart Lane.
It means that Rafael Benitez's successor at White Hart Lane will face an immediate test of Liverpool's credentials to break back into the top four. Arsenal did the double over Liverpool last season and Gunners too will want to begin their season with three points, just as they did on Merseyside last season with a 6-1 win at Everton.
Champions Chelsea are at home to West Bromwich Albion on the first weekend, which is set around Saturday, August 14. The match means a return to Stamford Bridge for former Blues midfielder Roberto Di Matteo, now manager of Albion.
Next up for the champions will be a trip to Wigan, where they were beaten last season, before Stoke visit Stamford Bridge on August 28.
The title holders have to wait until October 2 for their first match against one of the big four clubs, when they face Arsenal at home, with the return fixture on Boxing Day. Carlo Ancelotti's side first play Manchester United on December 18, with the two shaping up at Old Trafford on May 7 - the Blues' penultimate away fixture.
United, runners-up in 2009-10, also start with a home match against a newly-promoted team. Sir Alex Ferguson's side take on Newcastle on the first day.
Blackpool will begin their first ever season in the Premier League with a north-west encounter against Wigan Athletic. And Blackpool provide the Old Trafford opposition on the last day of the season, May 22.
Aston Villa face West Ham on and Everton travel to Blackburn and Steve Bruce's Sunderland are at home to Birmingham, one of the clubs he previously managed.
Wolves and Stoke clash at Molineux, while Bolton and Europa League runners-up Fulham meet in the north-west.
