Koscielny fit as Vermaelen fills in at left-back for Arsenal

Arsene Wenger has named an attacking Arsenal side with a patched-up defence as they attempt to complete a miracle Champions League comeback against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

Laurent Koscielny has passed a fitness test on his hamstring and starts at centre back, with Thomas Vermaelen reverting to left-back in place of the injured Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal.

Lukas Podolski starts against his former side, behind Olivier Giroud up front, while M Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Santi Cazorla both included in the middle. Mesut Ozil missed a penalty in the opening leg but keeps his place in Wenger's side.

Arsenal have only six substitutes at their disposal - Ryo Miyaichi was named as a seventh but is ineligible to play as he is not part of the club's Champions League squad.

Franck Ribery, who missed the first leg after having surgery on his buttock, returns to Bayern's starting XI while Arjen Robben - the subject of Arsene Wenger's criticisms after the match at the Emirates - also starts.

Toni Kroos, goalscorer in the first leg, has to settle for a place on the bench.
