Mourinho: Premier League table is fake

Jose Mourinho has congratulated Sam Allardyce on winning the Premier League Manager of the Month award for February, but says the decision to ignore the form of Chelsea forward Eden Hazard is "laughable".

Mourinho accused West Ham manager Allardyce of promoting "19th century" football back in January after West Ham secured a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge, but was full of praise for the veteran tactician after he was named as Premier League Manager of the Month for February.

Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge was named as the latest Premier League's Player of the Month, with Mourinho reiterating his confusion that Hazard has yet to land a personal award despite his sparkling form this season.

"I think Sam deserves [the award]," Mourinho told a news conference of Allardyce's personal success.

"I think he won four consecutive matches in February. When you win every match in the month, normally you have to win the award. I didn't in some months when I win every match, but that's me.

"Like a shotgun, he took West Ham from a dangerous position, so clearly he deserves it, but for Hazard to arrive in March without a single award makes me laugh."

When pressed on whether he still believed West Ham were playing a brand of football from a bygone era, he was quick to accept Allardyce needed to adapt his tactics to try and drag West Ham away from the Premier League drop zone.

"It is very important for his club not to be relegated," Mourinho said. "If one club relegated, the manager normally looks for another job.

"Normally the club has to change its profile. When a club fights for that, the points are more important than the way you do it. So I think he's doing very well."
