ESPNFC: United are shellshocked

Sir Alex Ferguson received more votes than the current Manchester United players in a fans' poll designed to work out who is to blame for the club's current crisis.

Current United boss David Moyes predictably topped the poll, which was set up by the Manchester Evening News on Monday and drew more than 6,000 responses.

Moyes, according to 52.55% of those who voted, was the main culprit but more than a thousand fans pointed the finger at United's most successful manager; Ferguson received 22.77% of the votes, while only 15.82% said the current players were at fault for the club's predicament.

The Glazer family, United's owners, gained only 6.88% of the total - a rather surprising share considering the hostility they have received for much of their tenure.

Moyes' backroom staff and new chief executive Ed Woodward were the most popular answers given in the poll's 'Others' section.

The stats prove the latest setback for Moyes, who oversaw United's sixth Premier League defeat of the season and 12th as a whole in Sunday's 3-0 loss to Liverpool.
