United land Bayern in last eight

Manchester United have been drawn against holders Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals, with Chelsea up against Paris Saint-Germain.

United will take on Bayern at Old Trafford in the first leg of their tie, while 2012 champions Chelsea will travel to Paris for theirs.

Barcelona face an all Spanish tie against La Liga title rivals Atletico Madrid, with Real Madrid taking on Borussia Dortmund - who knocked them out in last year's semi-finals on their way to defeat at Wembley against Bayern.

The quarter-final first legs are to be played over April 1-2 with the second legs over April 8-9.

David Moyes' United side booked their place in the last eight with a dramatic 3-0 win at Old Trafford on Wednesday, overturning a 2-0 deficit from their last-16 first leg against Olympiakos.

Bayern will be heavy favourites, however, with United struggling in seventh place in the Premier League while the German champions cruise to another Bundesliga title.

Pep Guardiola's side are aiming to become the first team to retain the Champions League, having knocked out Arsenal in the last 16.

The two teams have met nine times before in Europe, with United winning two, drawing four and losing three.

Overall, United have won only one of four home games against Bayern and even then they lost the tie on away goals in 2009-10 quarter-finals.

United however won their second European Cup against Bayern in 1999's final, when two late goals earned them a dramatic victory at the Nou Camp.

Chelsea and PSG were drawn together in the group stage of the 2004-05 competition. Jose Mourinho, then in his first campaign with Chelsea, saw his side claim a 3-0 win in Paris before being held to a 0-0 draw in the game at Stamford Bridge.
