Jose Mourinho has claimed that Chelsea's match against Arsenal was over after just seven minutes as his side were "too strong" for Arsene Wenger's men.

Wenger was marking his 1000th game in charge at Arsenal but the match quickly descended into a humiliation, with Samuel Eto'o and Andre Schurrle scoring in the opening seven minutes to give Chelsea a 2-0 lead.

  • Jose Mourinho took a swipe at the Premier League's fixture schedulers by lamenting Paris Saint-Germain having a day's extra rest prior to their Champions League quarter final first leg in France.
  • The two sides meet at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday April 2 but PSG will face Nice on the Friday, whereas Chelsea face Crystal Palace on Saturday.
  • "We have Crystal Palace and then after that we go to Paris," said Mourinho. "It is a difficult situation: Liverpool is not in that situation, Arsenal is not in that situation, Man City is not in that situation. But we are happy to be in that situation, so let's go step by step.
  • "We know already that Paris Saint-Germain plays on the Friday, which is brilliant again. It is more important for the French league than for the Premier League. The French league gives them 24 more hours; we have to play on Saturday."
  • Asked if Chelsea can be champions, Mourinho responded simply: "If they let us."

Shortly after, Kieran Gibbs was wrongly sent off when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain handled the ball to concede a penalty, but Mourinho believed that had little impact on the outcome of the match, which turned into a 6-0 rout - the biggest victory ever for Chelsea over Arsenal and also Mourinho's biggest victory as Chelsea manager.

"Ten amazing minutes," said Mourinho in his post-match press conference. "We came to kill and in ten minutes, we destroyed."

Earlier, speaking to BT Sport, Mourinho said: "I think we start in an incredible way, in seven minutes [it was] 2-0 and the game is over. I think we started very, very strong. I think the message was to make Arsenal feel uncomfortable, we tried to press immediately and recover and be fast. Two-nil after seven minutes and the game is over because we are too strong for them.

"Then comes the penalty and the red card - even worse for them - but I think the game is resolved in 10 minutes."

Mourinho was also keen to stress the difference between the controversy surrounding the red card and his own travails in the previous Premier League game against Aston Villa, where Willian and Ramires were sent off and Mourinho himself was sent to the stands.

He has since been charged by the FA for improper conduct, a charge he confirmed this week will be contested.

"This is the mistake a manager accepts, because the referee didn't see," he said. "Even the second official on that side couldn't help him make the right decision. But the important decision of the match is 'is it a penalty?' Yes. 'Is it a red card?' Yes.

"What happened last Saturday I would prefer to forget. If I could forget, I would. That's why I don't accept the charge."
