Eriksen eyes 'cold revenge' at Liverpool

Christian Eriksen is seeking "cold revenge" against Liverpool on Sunday following Tottenham's 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Brendan Rodgers' side earlier this season.

Andre Villas-Boas was sacked as Spurs manager following December's encounter, having already lost 6-0 at Manchester City, with Tim Sherwood appointed as head coach.

Even though Eriksen didn't feature in the match against Liverpool, he admits he still felt his team-mates' pain.

"Everybody wants a nice, cold revenge," said Eriksen, who scored twice in last week's comeback win against Southampton. "Everybody wants to prove that we're not that bad, like we have been in a few games.

"We have had some big losses against the bigger clubs and we know, if we want to get closer to the top, we have to win these games.

"We're trying to save that sense and that feeling from the games we lost, to turn into a winning feeling."

Victory at Liverpool would take Spurs to within five points of fourth-placed Arsenal, but Eriksen insists playing in the Europa League next season would be no disgrace.

"We haven't got the prize we wanted [in recent weeks] ... but the feeling I have here at the club doesn't depend on Champions League or Europa League," said Eriksen.

"Everybody wants to be in the Champions League. But if you can't get that at the end of the season we'll be all right with the Europa League. We'll feel sorry where we threw it away, but we'll see where we are."

Eriksen will come up against former Ajax teammate Luis Suarez on Sunday, insisting the striker had the same will to win at the Dutch club that has seen him lead Liverpool's title charge with 28 goals.

"He was like you see now, a really good player," said Eriksen. "He plays his own style. I think he has improved.

"At Ajax he was that good but you come to a new league and he's done even better. He always does everything to win, he's always been like that."
