Arsenal battle for point against Manchester City

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal's belief has returned after recovering from a goal down to take a point off Manchester City at the Emirates on Saturday.

Arsenal salvaged a draw after falling behind to an early David Silva goal for City, who are four points off the summit of the Premier League with two games in hand on leaders Liverpool.

On the back of their 6-0 drubbing by Chelsea a week earlier and the disappointment of throwing away two points with an own goal in the dying seconds against Swansea on Tuesday, the midfielder says it was important to bounce back before the visit of his former team Everton.

"It means a lot after two disappointing results in a row," he told Arsenal's official website. "Mentally we were strong and showed great belief.

"We all came together again and fought a lot and deserved at least a point."

Everton have closed the gap on fourth-placed Arsenal and could move within a point with a game in hand should they win at Goodison Park on Sunday.

But Arteta believes Arsenal are mentally ready to defend their Champions League qualifying spot.

"I liked the character and the desire the team showed, hopefully we can finish the season strong because there is still a lot to play for."
