Samuel Eto'o has not travelled with the Chelsea squad to face Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old striker was withdrawn after suffering a hamstring strain during the first half of Chelsea's 6-0 win against Arsenal 10 days ago and has failed to recover in time to travel to France.

The news is the latest blow to Jose Mourinho's campaign, with Eto'o having scored three goals in four Champions League appearances since his move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea lost to Crystal Palace at the weekend, a result that the manager said made it impossible for them to win the Premier League title.

Fernando Torres is set to lead the line in Eto'o's absence, with out-of-favour Demba Ba also in the squad.

Ashley Cole is still sidelined by injury, while Mohamed Salah and Nemanja Matc are both cup-tied, but Ramires is available once more while serving a domestic suspension.

Paris Saint-Germain are unbeaten in 28 home matches in Europe, dating back to Hapoel Tel-Aviv's 4-2 victory in the UEFA Cup group stage in November 2006.

Mourinho's first European match as Chelsea boss in his first spell was a 3-0 win at PSG in September 2004, but the Parisiens are a different proposition since the arrival of their Qatari owners.
