Jose Mourinho claims Chelsea are on form

Frank Lampard believes manager Jose Mourinho is the joker in Chelsea's pack ahead of their Champions League quarter-final tie second leg against Paris Saint-Germain.

Lampard is convinced that the two-time Champions League winning boss has the magic formula to transform a tie that appeared to swing decisively in PSG's favour as they snatched a late goal to secure a 3-1 first leg win in Paris last week.

"It's up to us to approach it the right way and that's where you trust in the manager," Lampard told the Daily Mirror.

"He's very, very strong in these situations and we'll look at that. The problem with Champions League football is you can't settle for having good periods in the game because little moments end up losing you the game. The quality level is so high.

"That was what was so disappointing about the other night in Paris. It's very easy to be downbeat but the fact is a 2-0 win gets us through. So we have to be positive and try to win the game but at the same time we have to keep our heads."

Chelsea will look to draw inspiration from their success in coming back from 3-1 down in a Champions League tie against Napoli two years ago, yet Lampard suggests the side they are up against in this season's competition have more quality at their disposal.

"I think PSG are a stronger team all round than Napoli," he added. "The disappointing thing was that late goal. That was a right kick in the teeth.

"We can certainly win by two goals but we can't be trying to chase a goal from minute one. It's more about being focused and getting our attitude and the pace in our game right.

"With the squad of players we've got we can win the game by two goals for sure, but we can't be too gung-ho. It's about finding the right balance on the night."
