Nani 'likely to leave' United, agent claims

Nani is likely to quit Manchester United in the summer, according to his Italian agent.

The winger, who has only made five league starts in a season interrupted by a serious hamstring injury, has been at Old Trafford since 2007.

Nani signed a new, lucrative five-year contract in September that was seen as a vote of confidence in new manager because it followed a summer in which he had offers to leave Old Trafford.

The new deal was also interpreted as Moyes, keen to make a statement of intent after taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson, showing faith in a player who has not fulfilled his promise at United.

But Andrea Pastorello, who represents Nani in Italy, told Viola News: "Nani is a very important player and at this time the only thing I can say is that he is likely to leave Manchester."

Nani has scored 41 goals in 227 games for United, winning four league titles and the 2008 Champions League.

An obstacle to a summer move could be Nani's United wages, the representative conceded, but talk of a move resurfacing will prompt speculation the forward is unsettled.

"The problem for Fiorentina and other Italian clubs is the player's salary. But we will evaluate all bids," he added.

"Our relationship with United is great. Fiorentina have to speak with Manchester United about Anderson and maybe there will be an opportunity to talk about Nani, too."

United have loaned midfielder Anderson, another of Pastorello's clients, to Fiorentina for the second half of the season and he said Serie A clubs would struggle to afford Nani's wages.
