Moyes 'Chosen One' banner may go to museum
The 'Chosen One' banner designed to show Manchester United fans' backing of David Moyes as successor to Sir Alex Ferguson could now be sold to a museum after he was sacked by the club on Tuesday.
Stretford End Flags (SEF), the supporters' group who originally funded and hung the sign at Old Trafford in August, will remove it for Saturday's home match with Norwich following the announcement of Moyes' departure from United.
A spokesman for the group has told the BBC that the banner could be donated to the National Football Museum in Manchester.
The banner became a focal point of Moyes' struggles at Old Trafford, with stewards forced to protect the banner from disgruntled fans after United's 3-0 derby humiliation at the hands of Manchester City last month.
In response, a group of fans flew a banner protesting against Moyes' reign with the words "Wrong One - Moyes Out" over Old Trafford during the 4-1 win against Aston Villa at the end of March.
A National Football Museum spokesman told the BBC: "Every object within our collection needs to fit within our strict collections guidelines.
"We are offered objects on a regular basis and, while we are always grateful for these offers, we often have to decline for reasons of space and because it doesn't fit within our guidelines."

SEF also appealed for designs for a Sir Bobby Charlton or Jimmy Murphy banner to fill the space on the tier.
