City's Silva could miss two-to-three weeks

Manchester City expect David Silva to return to action in two-to-three weeks after he was stretchered off during their 3-1 win against West Brom on Monday.

Silva was carried off at the Etihad with his right leg in a brace after he fell awkwardly in a challenge with Morgan Amalfitano, which appeared to aggravate an ankle injury he suffered in the derby win against Manchester United at Old Trafford last month.

The Spaniard's early departure prompted fears he would miss the rest of the season and this summer's World Cup in Brazil.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini, who admitted Silva had played the last three games with pain in his right ankle, was optimistic his midfielder did not suffer a season-ending injury when asked after his side's victory and, according to a report in the Manchester Evening News, City's medical team expect Silva to be back before the season's end.

Silva has been ruled out of City's trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday, although Yaya Toure could feature at Selhurst Park.

Silva, who will undergo a scan on his ankle on Wednesday, is also likely to miss City's crucial clash with Everton at Goodison Park on May 3.
