Manchester United rule out move for Joe Cole

Just 24 hours after it appeared Joe Cole was on his way to Old Trafford, Manchester United have ruled out a swoop for the outgoing Chelsea star.
Cole is available on a free transfer from Stamford Bridge, and he is courting interest from the Premier League's big guns, with Arsenal and Tottenham both interested. It was believed Cole's ideal choice would be Manchester United, but now the Red Devils are out of the running.
Reports in the British press on Tuesday were adamant that the England man would join up with Sir Alex Ferguson at United, and even Harry Redknapp appeared to have conceded defeat in the race for the player's signature.
"I've got a feeling that it might have been done (for Cole to join United)," Redknapp told talkSPORT. "It wouldn't surprise me in the least. Joe's not wanted to speak to anybody and his people have been saying 'let's get the World Cup out of the way first.' But we'd be interested for sure. I like Joe."
Now United have turned their back on the deal, although the club are keen to rubbish rumours of a breakdown over wage demands.
