Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood says lies are being told about his future at the club and persistent claims from managerial rivals about his job have left him disappointed.

Spurs denied making any contact with Frank de Boer on Wednesday, a day after the Ajax manager claimed he had been approached and would hold talks with officials from White Hart Lane after Saturday.

Another Dutchman, Louis van Gaal, had previously talked about taking over at Tottenham after discussions with the club were said to have taken place.

"When clubs are coming out and saying Tottenham have actually spoken to them and managers are coming out and saying they've spoken to them too, it's disappointing," Sherwood told Sky Sports.

"Somewhere along the line someone is telling porkies, I don't know for sure. Tottenham are not making any comment on that until the season finishes. So I'm just carrying on as I normally do, being as professional as I can and preparing the team."

If Tottenham win their final two games they will equal the club record for points in the Premier League, a benchmark which Sherwood is keen to highlight.

"I've got two more games to go," he said. "We've had a good run recently. If we can get maximum points then we will get a record amount of points for Tottenham which is 72. It will just be a shame that we didn't start the season any better.

"I just get on with it. There's not a press conference I've done since I took over when another name hasn't been mentioned.

"I've just got to get on with the job. The fans deserve that. In my opinion we've got one of the best fans nucleus in the country. We've got 40,000 fans waiting for a season ticket. It's a huge club. They deserve a manager who will give 100% to the cause."

Sherwood defended his record and placed blame on his predecessor, Andre Villas-Boas, who was fired in December.

"It's gone reasonably well for me in the Premier League," Sherwood said. "If we'd started the season better we might be in a better position in the league table."
