Usmanov and Abramovich slip in Rich List
Alisher Usmanov, who owns a 30% stake in Arsenal, and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich have slipped in the Sunday Times Super-Rich List.
Russian business magnate Usmanov was the wealthiest in the UK last year, but has fallen to second on the list with a value of £10.65 billion. Indian-born brothers Sri and Gopi Hinduja - responsible for running the global banking, investment and automotive Hinduja Group - have a value of £11.9bn and have replaced Usmanov at the top.
Abramovich slipped from fifth to ninth and now has a value of £8.52bn. Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is named in the top 25 UK billionaires as his wealth increased by £1.45bn to £3.75bn, putting him ahead of 24th-placed Sir Richard Branson.
Ashley sold £206m of Sports Direct shares in February and October 2013, as well as another set of shares worth more than £200m in April.
The Sunday Times Rich List also found that the number of billionaires based in the UK has increased to 104, more than triple the number from a decade ago. London is also the home of 72 people with a value worth more than £1bn, compared to Moscow with 48 and New York with 43.
