Nasri: City are finally united

Samir Nasri has had another dig at former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini after helping his side to a 2-0 win over West Ham that clinched the club's second Premier League title in three years.

Nasri signed for Mancini at the Etihad in 2011 and the pair rarely saw eye to eye in their two seasons together before the Italian was sacked. The war of words continued after Mancini left, with Nasri claiming the former boss held him back, while Mancini hit back saying the Frenchman was wasting his potential to be a world class player.

And now Nasri has spoken about how life at City is far more stable under Manuel Pellegrini.

When asked about what has changed since the Chilean took over from Mancini, Nasri replied: "The atmosphere in the dressing room.

"We've been friends this year. There are no egos.

"I'm really happy for the manager because it's his first [league] trophy in Europe. He's done an amazing job, he remained calm the whole season and we continued to play attractive football.

"It was a pleasure to work with him."

Mancini ended City's 35-year wait for a major trophy when they lifted the FA Cup in 2011, before leading them to their first title since 1968 a year later.

But Pellegrini talked about how he stamped his own authority on a squad that, while successful, was fractured by poor morale.

"We changed absolutely everything about the way this team plays," he explained.

"It was very important to have the trust of the players when I changed from the way they played before. It was not easy. Maybe if I had not won the title, it would have been a very good reason because it was my first year in the Premier League and I had to change a lot of things.

"But during the whole season I never wanted to have an excuse. I just tried to play in the way I think this team must play, and it has been a season that everybody has enjoyed - the fans, players and me also."
