Diego Costa has told Atletico Madrid players that he is leaving this summer and is expected to complete a £32 million deal to Chelsea, sources have told ESPN.

The Spanish international has long been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with manager Jose Mourinho specifically stating that the club would look to sign a prime high-profile striker in the close-season.

There have been extensive negotiations between Chelsea and Atletico over the past two months, including around the time of their Champions League semi-final meeting just a few weeks ago, when the principals of a deal were put in place.

Reports from Sky Sports claimed that a deal will be sealed in June, while stories in Spain earlier this week claimed a €60m (£49m) transfer to Chelsea had already been agreed, and Atletico coach Diego Simeone said in mid-April that his star frontman could be a target for the Londoners.

Speaking after the semi-final game at Stamford Bridge, Brazil-born Spain international Costa told Sky Sports Italia, in quotes reported by Marca, that potential moves were on the table. But he stressed that he would not decide on his future until the end of the season.

"I feel good at Atletico, I am happy in Madrid," he said. "We will see what happens. There are offers, but it is too early yet to talk. Now I am just thinking about the end of the season, I want to win the Champions League and La Liga."
