Sergio Aguero's father says the striker "would love to go to Barcelona" amid reports they have tabled a £31 million bid for him, but Manchester City are set to rebuff any approach.

Spanish newspaper AS believe that Barcelona's new head coach Luis Enrique is willing to make an even higher offer for Aguero, however, in order to strike a deal.

Enrique is reportedly hoping to partner Aguero and Lionel Messi in attack, knowing their close friendship as fellow Argentine internationals could play to his advantage in Barcelona's pursuit of the striker.

However Aguero's father, Leonel del Castillo, admitted Barcelona face a tall order in prising his son away from City.

"He [Aguero] would love to go to Barcelona but Manchester City will make it impossible," Del Castillo said.

Aguero, who cost City £36 million when he moved to the Etihad Stadium in 2011, has three years left on his current deal.

Despite suffering with injuries throughout the campaign, Aguero still scored an impressive 28 goals in 34 appearances as City claimed the Premier League and League Cup.
