Romelu Lukaku does not know what plans Chelsea have for him next season, but still harbours hopes of playing for Jose Mourinho.

The Belgium striker scored 16 goals during an impressive season-long loan spell at Everton after spending the previous campaign with West Brom.

While he is currently focused on Belgium and the World Cup, he admitted it was frustrating to not know his place in Chelsea's plans as he enters the penultimate year of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

"It would be nice to get clarity beforehand, but that will not happen, so I'm completely focused on the World Cup," Lukaku told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad.

"You know, I still have a two-year contract at the biggest club in England, because that's Chelsea. So I still hope to play there. Chelsea have a good coach."

Lukaku has carried his fine Premier League form into the World Cup warm-up games, scoring a hat-trick against Luxembourg with a goal in Sunday's 2-0 win in Sweden.

"I have been working hard on my game over the past few months and everything seems to be coming out now," Lukaku added. "I have a good feeling about this competition."
