The ESPN FC team discuss Liverpool's summer transfer dealings

Fabio Borini wants to stay at Liverpool, according to his agent, who does not believe the signing of Rickie Lambert spells the end at Anfield for his client.

The striker, who played for Brendan Rodgers at Swansea, only scored one goal in an injury-hit first season at Liverpool following his 2012 arrival from Roma.

Rodgers signed Spanish striker Iago Aspas last summer and brought in Southampton striker Lambert this week in a £4 million deal.

But Borini's agent, Marco De Marchi said: "Does Lambert's arrival close the door on Fabio Borini? No, I don't think so. We have received no communications in that regard."

Borini scored 10 goals in 40 games for Sunderland, including the April winner against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as Gus Poyet's side rallied to secure safety.

De Marchi added: "Fabio gave a considerable contribution towards keeping Sunderland up. He was praised by everyone, especially by the Liverpool manager Rodgers.

"So, after his holidays he will go back to Liverpool to prepare for the new season wearing the shirt of this historic club.

"He wants to compete with everyone and be an extra resource for the coach and the team. Borini could be of use to any team, but no-one has contacted us and his desire is to show what he's got at Liverpool."
