Jose Mourinho is very confident that Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa will move to Chelsea this summer.

Costa, who started in the World Cup-holders' 5-1 defeat to the Netherlands on Friday, confirmed publicly for the first time that he will leave Atletico, with sources telling ESPN the striker had completed a medical before going to the World Cup.

Mourinho told Marca: "Costa is a player I want in my team.

"I've asked the club to bring him in, and I am extremely confident that we are going to get him and that he'll end up signing for Chelsea."

Mourinho also ended any doubt over the future of Chelsea's Belgium international goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who spent last season on loan at Atletico.

"When the World Cup in Brazil is over, Courtois will be coming straight back to Stamford Bridge - end of story," he said.

Speaking last month, Courtois had said he did not necessarily believe that returning to London would be the best step for him, with Petr Cech Chelsea's No.1.

"The two of us want to play everything," he said. "Nobody will be happy to play in only the League Cup or FA Cup. Things are unclear at the moment.

"I have the biggest respect for Petr Cech. I think he was named as the best goalkeeper of the Premier League, so he is still at a great level. He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, so I think putting him and me in the same team is not the healthiest thing in the world."
