Edin Dzeko has fuelled speculation of a potential move away from Manchester City by revealing his admiration for Serie A to his Bosnia & Herzegovina team-mate.

Roma's Miralem Pjanic claims the striker has told him he would like to play in Italy and has urged his side to sign the City frontman so they could team up for club and country.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini made keeping Dzeko a priority when he took over last summer and Dzeko finished the season as a regular in the team, scoring 26 goals with five of them coming in the last four games as City clinched their second Premier League title in three years.

"Dzeko has told me that he likes Italy and I think it would be a coup if we signed him," Pjanic told Sport Mediaset.

City are expected to offer Dzeko a new contract but Valencia and several clubs in Italy have been linked with the 28-year-old, who has to compete with Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo at the Etihad.

Dzeko and Pjanic both played in Bosnia & Herzegovina's 2-1 defeat to Argentina in their opening World Cup fixture on Sunday.
