'Anything could happen' as Arsenal eye Balotelli

Mario Balotelli's agent says "anything is possible" for the striker in the transfer market this summer after he was linked with a move to Arsenal.

Balotelli headed the winner in Italy's opening World Cup victory against England on Saturday and it is reported Arsenal have spoken to his representative Mino Raiola.

"Arsenal are a fantastic club," Raiola told Sky Sports. "Will a transfer happen? Anything is possible."

Arsene Wenger is keen to sign a prolific striker for his side to supplement the threat Olivier Giroud poses for Arsenal and is said to be considering bringing Balotelli back to the Premier League if the price is right.

Wenger wants to build on the success of last season's FA Cup win, which ended the club's nine-year trophy drought, but so far his efforts have proved fruitless as his squad has looked more likely to suffer departures than be bolstered by new signings.

Long-time target Julian Draxler revealed he said no to a move to the Emirates last January and will do the same if Arsenal try to sign him again this summer.

Bacary Sagna has joined Manchester City after his Arsenal contract expired and captain Thomas Vermaelen has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, while Santi Cazorla admitted he had spoken to some of his Spain team-mates about what it was like to play for Atletico Madrid.

Wenger considered exercising his club's option to re-sign Cesc Fabregas but felt he could not accommodate both him and record signing Mesut Ozil. Fabregas then chose to sign a five-year deal at Chelsea in a £27 million move from Barcelona.

There has been some positive news for Arsenal fans though, with Wenger saying he is prepared to give Joel Campbell a chance to make his mark next season after he impressed for Costa Rica at the World Cup.
