England manager Roy Hodgson has named an unchanged line-up from the defeat to Italy for their crucial World Cup clash against Uruguay in Group D.

Wayne Rooney keeps his place in the starting XI, with Hodgson confirming before kick-off that the Manchester United striker will play in the middle in his favoured No.10 role behind Daniel Sturridge. Raheem Sterling, who started against Italy in the No.10 role, is expected to play on the right wing with Danny Welbeck on the left.

England lost 2-1 to Italy in their opening clash - with Italy taking on Costa Rica on Friday.

Meanwhile, Luis Suarez starts for Uruguay to take the place of Diego Forlan.

Suarez was an unused substitute in Uruguay's shock 3-1 defeat to Costa Rica in their opening game. The Liverpool striker had surgery on his knee before the World Cup and will make his first appearance since the final day of the Premier League season.
