Oxlade-Chamberlain injury blow
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has suffered a recurrence of the knee problem he sustained in the friendly against Ecuador and will play no part for England at the World Cup.
The Arsenal midfielder had been hoping to return to action after picking up the injury in the 2-2 draw against Ecuador in Miami on June 4.
However, England manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed he has aggravated the problem and will miss out on the side's final game against Costa Rica on Tuesday.
"Alex had a slight recurrence of the knee problem and will be out," Hodgson said.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was likely to get a run in the side following England's earliest exit at the World Cup since 1958 as Hodgson planned to give players who have not featured some playing time.
Oxlade-Chamberlain will head for medical treatment with Arsenal once he and the national side leave Brazil on Wednesday, according to The Sun.
