Liverpool let Alberto leave for Malaga
Liverpool forward Luis Alberto will complete a season-long loan move to Malaga on Thursday after passing a medical, sources have told ESPN.
The Spain Under-21 international is returning to La Liga after a £1 million loan fee was agreed.
Alberto has struggled to make an impact on Merseyside since arriving from Sevilla for £6.8 million in June 2013. The 21-year-old has made just nine Premier League appearances, all of them as a substitute, with his only two starts for the club coming in cup competitions.
Brendan Rodgers, who has signed Rickie Lambert from Southampton this summer and are said to be closing in on Belgium's Divock Origi, believes that Alberto still has the potential to succeed in England. The manager is hoping that his development will be aided by a year of regular top-flight football in Spain.
Alberto is still relatively inexperienced at the top level, having played most of his football for the B teams of Sevilla and Barcelona.
