Mikel: Bring on Fabregas competition
John Obi Mikel is unworried about the increased competition for places in the Chelsea midfield following the arrival of Cesc Fabregas at Stamford Bridge.
Fabregas left Barcelona this summer to sign a five-year deal with Chelsea, returning to London where he first made his name during eight Premier League seasons at Arsenal.
At Chelsea since 2006, Mikel remains under contract for a further three seasons with the Blues, and told reporters ahead of Nigeria's 2014 World Cup round of 16 encounter with France he was relishing the opportunity to be in the same side as the Spain international.
"There's no problem with Cesc's arrival. We don't play in the same position. It's my place at Chelsea, my second home.
"In football, you never know what can happen. I'm very happy at Chelsea. I want to stay at Chelsea. I still have three years left on my contract.
"We're going to wait, and we'll see. Congratulations to Cesc on his transfer. I can't wait to play with him."
