Fellaini: I've got nothing to prove
Marouane Fellaini insists he has nothing to prove as he waits to find out his Manchester United future under new manager Louis Van Gaal.
The midfielder endured a difficult first season at Old Trafford after former manager David Moyes signed him from their old club Everton for £27.5 million and his place is under threat again after the arrival of Ander Herrera.
It has been suggested that Van Gaal has told club executives that Fellaini can be sold and the Belgium international, asked if he will still be at United next season, told Sky Sports News: "We will see after the World Cup.
"I don't have to prove [anything]. I've been a professional footballer for eight years."
His latest comments are a contrast to those he made in June when he appeared determined to prove his worth at United.
Fellaini has fared well in Brazil, scoring Belgium's first goal in a World Cup for 12 years when he equalised against Algeria and helping Marc Wilmots' side reach the quarter-finals, where they will face Argentina.
However, he failed to score and only started 12 league games during an injury-hit first season at Old Trafford as United, the 2013 Premier League champions, laboured to a seventh place finish in one of their worst seasons in the club's history.
