Is Diego Costa a one-season wonder?

Besiktas have announced the signing of striker Demba Ba from Chelsea.

Ba has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge haven fallen down the pecking order and the Turkish club confirmed a deal had been reached on their Twitter account. His move, however, is subject to a medical and agreeing personal terms.

The Senegalese international flew into Istanbul on Wednesday afternoon and posted a picture of himself in a Besiktas shirt. The SuperLig club, who are managed by former Croatian coach Slaven Bilic, finished third last season and will enter the Champions League qualifying stages at round three.

Ba moved to Stamford Bridge in January 2013 from Newcastle but his game time was limited under Jose Mourinho last season. He scored just 14 goals during his time in west London.

His chances of playing a more prominent role next season suffered a setback with the news Chelsea have completed the signing of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid and Fernando Torres keen to fight for his place.

Everton had shown an interest in taking Ba on loan but Chelsea were keen to recover a portion of the £32 million they paid for Costa instead.

Besiktas are currently in England for a pre-season training camp.
