West Ham target Arsenal's Jenkinson
West Ham United are hoping to take Carl Jenkinson across London after Arsenal completed the signing of Mathieu Debuchy in a £10 million deal.
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is keen to bring Jenkinson to Upton Park in a permanent deal, but is also understood to be prepared to take the right back on loan.
Jenkinson, who has one England cap, is likely to find first-team opportunities hard to come by at Arsenal next season after the arrival of France international Debuchy from Newcastle.
Newcastle themselves had been linked with Jenkinson as a replacement for Debuchy, but manager Alan Pardew instead plumped for Feyenoord's Daryl Janmaat.
Swansea are thought to have already contacted Arsenal about Jenkinson's availability and it is likely to be a race between the Welsh club and West Ham for the 22-year-old's signature.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is eager to keep Jenkinson at the Emirates as he attempts to build a squad with the depth to compete on numerous fronts next season, but the player will push for a move if he believes it will help his England chances.
