Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny believes signings such as Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy are the key to Arsenal sustaining a title challenge next season.

Arsene Wenger brought in Sanchez from Barcelona for £32 million and right-back Debuchy from Newcastle for £12m and is reportedly pursuing Sporting Lisbon defender Carvalho - but may be frightened off by the deal terms said to be available.

Szczesny, who is likely to face competition from another looming signing in the shape of Nice goalkeeper David Ospina, claims the new faces are the ones the club's success will turn on after falling short last term.

"Obviously you want to add more strength to your team and adding that little bit more quality to what we had last year is only going to make us stronger. Hopefully that will bring better results this season," he told the club's official website.

Wenger revealed after the pre-season victory over Boreham Wood on Saturday that Arsenal are still looking to bring in more new faces to the Emirates - news which has been welcomed by Szczesny.

"[The players all] talk about it. You look on Sky Sports News and you see who's going to sign for us and talk about it in the dressing room - that goes on for a couple of months," he said.

"It's always good when you hear about big names and possible signings, and hopefully there's one or two more to come."
