Mauricio Pochettino has targeted the Premier League title with Tottenham and claimed that bringing in new faces to the club is not one of his main priorities.

The manager left Southampton to replace Tim Sherwood at White Hart Lane and while his focus is developing Tottenham's style of play, he has big plans for the future.

"All managers want the best and want to be the best," Pochettino told The Sun. "I knew from the first day I came here that Spurs are a big club.

"My challenge is to win the Premier League, eventually. This is our goal, to win the title one day.

"Our target at the moment is to provide a team capable of creating our philosophy on the pitch. To develop and improve the style of football we want to play."

Pochettino, who signed a five-year contract with Tottenham, is yet to strengthen the club's squad with new signings.

But while the sides above and around them in the Premier League are adding new faces he is focused instead on changing the playing philosophy at the club.

"We have an unbelievable squad with some unbelievable players," Pochettino said. "We need to work to get the players ready to start the season playing with our philosophy.

"This is our only target at the moment. Afterwards we will see. Tottenham are expected to play well and win. Results are important and we will target a position later. But for the moment our aim is to get the squad playing the way we want."

Pochettino hosted his first news conference as Tottenham manager following his side's 3-3 draw with Seattle Sounders on Saturday, addressing the media in English rather than relying on the translator he used for media duties during his time as Southampton boss.
