Parma have announced the signing of Bulgaria striker Valeri Bojinov from Manchester City.

Bojinov, 24, joined City from Fiorentina in 2007 after a loan spell with Juventus, but injuries have limited him to just 13 appearances and he was allowed to join Parma on loan last season.

Sevilla are believed to have been among several Spanish sides who tried to sign the player this summer, but Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi has now confirmed he has completed a permanent switch back to the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

"I am very happy to announce the successful outcome of a deal that we have been pursuing since last January," Ghirardi told Sky Italia. "From today, Bojinov is a Parma player.

"I am happy. It is a deal that we have been taking forward since January. Over time, the price went up and down. The documents arrived today. We will announce all the details at a press conference on Wednesday.

"We reached an agreement the City. I am grateful to Valeri, who really wanted to stay at Parma. The details of the contract will be established between (general director Pietro) Leonardi and the staff of the player."
