The doubt surrounding Fernando Torres' future on Mersyside continues to drag on after the striker said he will not commit to Liverpool until he knows exactly what is happening at the club.

The Spain star has been linked with a big-money move to a number of Europe's top clubs following Liverpool's failure to qualify for next season's Champions League, with Chelsea believed to be preparing a bid.

Torres' agent recently denied that the former Atletico Madrid player was looking to leave Anfield and the player himself welcomed the arrival of new Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson last week. However, doubts remain over the 26-year-old's plans and he is set to open talks with the board and Hodgson after he returns from a holiday following the climax of the World Cup.

"I suppose that when the World Cup finishes I will speak to the people at Liverpool and they will explain to me the real situation of how things are at present, the future of the club," Torres told El Mundo Deportivo. "And I will talk to the new coach.

"There's time for that, but I want to finish the World Cup, go on holiday, as I haven't had a holiday for three years, rest and then there will be time to talk about all of that - the situation isn't going to change whether we talk soon or later."
