Adnan Januzaj has admitted he is feeling the pressure after taking over the Manchester United No.11 shirt from Ryan Giggs.

The Belgian teenager says it was an opportunity he could not turn down when the new Old Trafford assistant manager told him he should take the number he wore for 24 years.

Januzaj said: "It's a big honour for me and my family and I was very happy to have it given to me.

"Of course you feel pressure because he was a legend in front of me. He had it for more than 20 years so I'm really happy."

Januzaj also said there is a different mood around Old Trafford under new manager Louis van Gaal - despite a disappointing opening day defeat to Swansea.

"A lot of things have changed," he added. "He is a top, top manager we respect him a lot, we are working hard for him, the team and everyone at the club.

"Afterwards, he was honest, but it's only the first game. We know we need to start winnning some games. It was a very disappointing game, we did create some chances but we didn't score.

"It's only the first game of the season so it's nothing. We move on to the next one now."

Januzaj replaced Jesse Lingard midway through the first half and admits he is still getting back to full fitness having returned late to training following the World Cup.

"I am still a bit short but everything is coming back. I am working hard to try and get my fitness back," he said.
