Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar completed his move to Benfica from Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday, signing a two-year deal with the Portuguese club.

QPR released Cesar by mutual consent ahead of his move, making the 34-year-old a free agent. Benfica welcomed Cesar with a posting on Twitter on Tuesday.

Cesar joined QPR before the 2012/13 season and made 27 starts in all competitions while the club still played in the second-tier Championship.

Earlier this year, QPR loaned him to Major League Soccer's Toronto FC, where he made seven appearances before playing for Brazil at the World Cup.

With Cesar's high wages and Robert Green preferred as first-choice keeper under Harry Redknapp at QPR, a move was always likely for the former Inter keeper.
