Reus 'had an offer for a lot of money' from United

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo claims that Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus has turned down an "offer for a lot of money" to join Manchester United.

Cerezo was responding to questions about his own club's reported interest in Reus during a radio interview with Onda Cero when he suggested the Old Trafford club had failed in a bid to land the 25-year-old, who missed this summer's World Cup triumph with Germany with an injury.

Atletico's pursuit of Reus was a story that emerged across several media outlets earlier this month, but Cerezo dismissed the prospect of the Spanish champions signing the player this summer.

"I don't know where the Marco Reus rumour came from. It's a player who, at this time, is impossible to us," he said.

"Look, he had an offer for a lot of money from Manchester United and he has not gone. We will not sign him with a lesser offer."

United boss Louis van Gaal has expressed his eagerness to add wingers to his squad before the end of this transfer window, with Real Madrid's Angel di Maria linked with a move to United in recent weeks.

However, fresh reports in France on Wednesday claimed Paris Saint-Germain were still interested in signing Di Maria, despite comments from PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi at the start of August that the Argentina star was "too expensive."
