Will Rojo be a good fit at Man United?

Manchester United target Angel Di Maria has told Real Madrid he wants to leave the club and has rejected the offer of a new contract.

The club have set an internal minimum price for a transfer of £62 million, according to ESPN sources.

Di Maria has been heavily linked with a move to United, with recent reports suggesting the club are willing to spend up to £100m including the transfer fee and wages to take the Argentine to Old Trafford.

"He is a Real Madrid player through the end of the transfer window," Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti told a news conference. "I am surprised to read that there are apparent discrepancies between the club and myself. There is no discrepancy and both sides think the same as I do. Di Maria asked to leave and has rejected an offer from the club.

"The player himself has to solve this situation. If he doesn't find a solution to his future, he will continue working with us, no problem."

Ancelotti also revealed that midfielder Sami Khedira has rejected the offer of a new contract - although the World Cup winner has not said he wants to leave.

Arsenal are reportedly keen on the 27-year-old, who has seen competition for a place in the Madrid midfield increase this summer with the signings of his Germany team-mate Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.

Sources have told ESPN that Khedira has also sounded out a possible move back to his homeland with Bayern Munich this week, and the Bundesliga champions are reported to be monitoring the situation.

Ancelotti said of Khedira: "It's a different situation to Di Maria. He's not asked to go. He's rejected an offer to renew, but has a year of contract. We'll see what happens."
