Falcao signs for United after day of drama
Radamel Falcao completed his loan move from Monaco to Manchester United more than two hours after the transfer window closed on a dramatic deadline day.
A deal for the Colombian striker was agreed upon by the two clubs mid-morning on Monday, however he did not arrive until late afternoon in Manchester, after which a medical and an agreement on personal terms were still to be completed.
The 11pm deadline came and went without an announcement from Manchester United, and rumours even surfaced suggesting the player had failed a medical.
However, having been granted an extension to omplete the deal by the Premier League, the loan deal - reportedly on wages of £265,000 a week - was ratified, though there was still no official confirmation from United.
The deal will cost United £20 million in total, and takes their spending over £150m in this summer's transfer window as Louis van Gaal rebuilds a squad that is still seeking its first win of the season. Dutch international defender Daley Blind also joined the club for £14m on deadline day.
