Van Gaal: Glazers keep spending and it's great

Manchester United are said to be ready to continue backing new manager Louis van Gaal in the transfer market despite a £150 million outlay this summer.

The have club brought in six players, including British record £59m signing Angel Di Maria and surprise loan recruit Radamel Falcao, as the Dutchman tackles a tough rebuilding job.

But, despite a poor start to the season, they are reportedly happy to invest even more money in the squad in the next transfer window with Kevin Strootman a key target - and Van Gaal, who has experienced a very different reaction at other clubs, is grateful.

"My start at Bayern was just as bad as my start with Manchester United," Van Gaal told the Daily Mirror. "But the big difference was that at Bayern I had already been called in for a major showdown with Uli Hoeness, who wanted an explanation.

"What have United done? They have just bought more players for me. They kept buying players. They are supporting me. That is a sign of trust in the manager. I feel that. I feel their trust and belief in my ability.

"It is not just a matter of believing in my football philosophy, but in me as a person too."

Van Gaal has failed to win a competitive game as United manager and suffered humiliation at the hands of MK Dons in the Capital One Cup but he is confident he will turn things around.

"Do I get worried when I look at the league table now?" he said. "Come off it, that means nothing. We have only just started!

"The facts are that I have never let any clubs down. I have won things. I have given those clubs success. That is exactly what I will do here at United."
