Luis Suarez made his first appearance since being given a four-month ban by FIFA for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup, but his Uruguay side were held to a 1-1 draw by Saudi Arabia.

The Barcelona striker is banned for 'official matches only' after an appeal was upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport and took the chance to play in the friendly at the King Fahd stadium.

Suarez played 70 minutes before being substituted for Abel Hernandez by manager Oscar Tabarez.

Suarez's volley had given Uruguay the lead in a roundabout way as it crashed off the post and forced an own goal from Muath Fallatah just after half-time.

However, with no spark to fire them to victory, Uruguay were hit by a late blow as a glancing header from Naif Hazazi levelled the scores with only minutes remaining.
