Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck is expected to be fit to play for Saturday's Premier League game against Hull, sources have told ESPN.

England manager Roy Hodgson suggested Welbeck had "turned his ankle" in the 1-0 Euro 2016 qualifying win against Estonia in Tallinn last Sunday, with the forward appearing to be in pain as he was replaced by Rickie Lambert in the closing stages of the game.

Hodgson downplayed the severity of the injury after the game and now it has emerged that Arsenal are confident Welbeck will be ready to line-up against Hull at Emirates Stadium this weekend.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be relieved to have Welbeck available as Olivier Giroud is still some way from making a first team return as he recovers from a foot injury and Theo Walcott has only returned to full training for the first time since January this week.

Walcott is unlikely to be ready to make the starting line-up in Arsenal's next couple of matches, but Wenger is hopeful he should be back to full fitness by the end of this month as the Frenchman awaits an end to his ongoing injury crisis.

Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil is the most recent addition to a crowded Arsenal treatment room that also includes Aaron Ramsey and captain Mikel Arteta.

The depleted Arsenal are preparing for a crucial week in their season as this weekend's game against Hull is backed up by tricky away matches against Anderlecht in the Champions League and Sunderland in the Premier League.
