Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed he will consider bringing forward the date of DeAndre Yedlin's arrival at the north London club to next January.

A deal is in place that will see the Seattle Sounders and USA defender move to Spurs for the start of the next Premier League season, but injury issues afflicting Pochettino's squad have raised the prospect of that agreement being brought forward by a few months.

With the ongoing fitness troubles surrounding first-choice full-back Kyle Walker showing no sign of easing, Pochettino admitted he will weigh up the possibility of adding 21-year-old Yedlin to his squad in the next transfer window.

"I don't know about this yet, we need to analyse that," Pochettino said when asked whether he would look to bring Yedlin to Tottenham at the start of 2015. "It is early to say whether it will maybe be in January or at the end of the season, for next season.

"We need to know how Walker is recovering to decide, but [Yedlin] is another option. One option is that maybe in January we bring him here. At the moment it is too early to take a decision."

Yedlin is clearly preparing to make the move to London in January if called upon by Pochettino, as he had previously confirmed.

"It depends on the situation," Yedlin said. "I think if I'm still playing a lot with Seattle then it's something I have to think about - there's no reason to have me go in.

"Ultimately it comes down to what [Pochettino] wants. He's making the decision on when I come. Obviously he has confidence in me, but these guys have experience at this level.

"It's going to take me time to adjust. I'm not expecting to go in right away first day and start. So if I'm playing, there's no reason to take me out of that environment."
