English clubs fail to win Stateside

The New York Red Bulls subjected Manchester City to their second successive pre-season defeat in the United States, thanks to a 25-yard winner from Dane Richards to seal a 2-1 win.
Macoumba Kandji's opener put City on the back foot again - as they had opened the four-team New York Challenge with a 2-0 loss to Sporting Lisbon - and new Red Bulls signing Thierry Henry was again pulling the strings for the MLS side.
However Henry missed a great chance as he failed to beat Joe Hart, missing the ball as he attempted to round the City keeper after beating the offside trap, before the break and Jo hit back for City after half-time as he converted Greg Cunningham's low cross with a delicate chip.
As a sluggish City tired in the New York heat, the Red Bulls were soon on the front foot again and the impressive Richards unleashed an unstoppable shot which went in off the bar with 19 minutes remaining.
City's Alex Nimely could have claimed a draw in the final few minutes, but incredibly he turned Adam Johnson's cross over the bar from just a yard out.
Manchester United also lost 2-1 to MLS opposition, falling to a 10-man Kansas City Wizards in their latest North American tour match.
The one consolation for Sir Alex Ferguson was the return of Nani, who played 68 minutes at Arrowhead Stadium in his first outing since suffering a dislocated collarbone before the World Cup.
Davy Arnaud opened the scoring for the hosts before Dimitar Berbatov levelled from the penalty spot after a challenge which saw the Wizards' Jimmy Conrad sent off. The hosts quickly responded with Kei Kamara restoring their lead before the break. United raised the tempo in the second half but they were unable to breach the determined home defence.
Meanwhile, Robbie Keane scored one and set up another as Tottenham completed their pre-season tour of the United States with a 2-2 draw against Sporting Lisbon at Red Bull Arena.
Keane, the Republic of Ireland's record goalscorer, has been linked with a move away from Spurs this summer after spending the second half of last season on loan at Celtic, but opened the scoring with a fine finish in the 23rd minute. He latched onto Niko Kranjcar's through-ball and slotted into the bottom-left corner to give manager Harry Redknapp food for thought.
The lead lasted for only two minutes, however, before Chile international Matias Fernandez headed home the equaliser.
Jaime Valdes made it 2-1 to the Portuguese side three minutes into the second half by firing past David Button, who had replaced Carlo Cudicini at the break.
Substitute Jonathan Obika squeezed a shot past goalkeeper Rui Patricio in the 70th minute from Keane's pass to get the north London outfit back on level terms, but neither team could force a winner in the remaining 20 minutes.
