Moyes 'meets with Sociedad president'

Real Sociedad's president has reportedly met with David Moyes in London in an attempt to convince the former Manchester United manager to take over the club.

Current Sociedad coach Jagoba Arrasate is widely believed to be on the brink of losing his job after a poor start to the season which has included an embarrassing Europa League exit to FC Krasnodar and just one win in their opening nine La Liga games.

An immediate change is considered likely should Arrasate's team not win Saturday's game against Malaga at Anoeta.

Other possible replacements for Arrasate which have been mentioned in local press reports include highly-rated former Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel, ex-Betis and West Brom manager Pepe Mel and one-time Real Madrid, Sevilla and Tottenham manager Juande Ramos.

However Moyes appears to be Sociedad's favoured candidate, and Spanish newspaper AS report that club president Jokin Aperribay flew to London on Thursday to sit down with Moyes and discuss the position.

According to AS, Moyes has already rejected an initial offer, and is also a contender to take over at Inter should Walter Mazzari be sacked.

San Sebastian based paper Diario Vasco claims it was Moyes himself who made first contact with Sociedad to show his interest in the job.

Moyes has already been to Anoeta, having overseen Manchester United's dull 0-0 draw there last season in the Champions League group stages.

He was also reportedly considered for the Athletic Bilbao position in the past, and has previously said that he would consider working outside of the United Kingdom.
