Van Gaal: Time for Van Persie to deliver

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has told Robin van Persie he must deliver as Manchester United look to get back to winning ways.

United have not won since October 5, and host another struggling side in Crystal Palace on Saturday. And Van Persie, who has scored three goals in nine games this season, has been told to start finding the net more regularly.

"I shall expect a lot of him," Van Gaal said. "But a striker is also dependable also on his team-mates more than any other position.

"For me, a striker is more than only a man who has to make goals.

"He has to be an attacking point, so we can play in the third and fourth phase of our attack.

"That is not only to make goals. He can also make assists or create the pass before the assist. That's how I judge players and especially strikers.

Van Gaal also said he "cannot say" when his deadline day loan signing Radamel Falcao will return from injury.
