Title race already over?

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits Chelsea look untouchable in the race for the Premier League title.

Wenger watched through the rain as his side slumped to their second league defeat of the season with a 2-1 reverse at Swansea on Sunday and were left trailing Jose Mourinho's league leaders by 12 points.

The defeat led Wenger to write off Arsenal's title hopes - and those of everyone else - as he claimed Chelsea's form suggested they were on their way towards smashing the Premier League points record.

"Look at the season and Chelsea are on course for 105 points," Wenger said. "Look at the number of points they have today and if they keep that up nobody will touch them, that's for sure."

Chelsea have won nine and drawn two of their opening 11 league fixtures, while summer-signing Diego Costa has scored 10 goals in nine appearances, including the winner against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

Mourinho helped set the league's record points total during his first stint at Stamford Bridge, leading Chelsea to a 95-point triumph in 2004-5, and his side are already four points clear of second-placed Southampton and eight ahead of reigning champions Manchester City this time around.

"It doesn't look like anybody is capable of challenging them at the moment," Wenger added. "There's no obvious reason but they have had a good start and as long as you don't lose you don't question yourself. Maybe a little bit more extra spirit in the team helps them when it gets tight."
