Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto'o has warned team-mate and reported Manchester City target Mario Balotelli he "must sort some things out in his head'' to fulfil his potential.

Balotelli sat on the sidelines as Inter hammered Manchester City 3-0 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday night, a match that saw Patrick Vieira sent off for elbowing Marco Materazzi.

City have been attempting to lure Balotelli to Eastlands this summer for a fee of around £25 million, with Inter thought to be willing to let Balotelli go after a string of fall-outs with team-mates and management.

But despite all the hype surrounding the hot-headed Balotelli, Eto'o believes that an attitude change is necessary if the young forward is to flourish at Eastlands.

"He has the potential to go on and be one of the best players in the world but he must sort some things out in his head," Eto'o told the Daily Star Sunday.

"The older players at Inter Milan have always tried to advise him. I am not sure how successfully but, if he is to be a success and not waste his career he must listen to the players at Manchester City. This is the chance for a fresh start.''
